From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to round up the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
