Heartbreaking News on UPS Accident: Fatalities Increases to 13

The number of lives lost resulting from the freight aircraft that burst into flames and crashed has now risen to 13, according to recent reports.

City Leader's Remarks

“On my way to the Workers’ candlelight gathering, I received word of a additional fatality that lost their life as a result of the plane accident,” stated the municipal leader in a public communication. “My thoughts are with the relatives, associates and peers of all who were lost in this recent calamity. We will endure this as one.”

Victims Named

An announcement from UPS identified the pilots operating the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and International Relief Officer Dana Diamond.

“Our hearts reach out to each staff member who has been affected and all in our community area – assisting you and ensuring you obtain the attention and aid you need is our focus,” the firm’s statement read.

Inquiry Updates

Federal authorities revealed that the freight aircraft’s left wing ignited and an engine detached just after departure from the aviation hub, causing the jet to crash and explode into a blaze.

The NTSB has said it is investigating the aircraft’s upkeep logs, that was in the state for fixes a period ahead of the incident.

Flight tracking information showed the plane was on the tarmac in that location from early September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this plane was located in San Antonio,” said an official on later, without a specific time frame. “We will look at every piece of maintenance that was completed, from the San Antonio time, straight to the day of the journey.”

Findings of Vital Evidence

The audio device and flight data recorder were retrieved, and the motor was found on the airfield.

The devices – known as black boxes – were constructed to withstand collision damage and extreme temperatures from infernos, and they seemed to be intact when discovered amid the crash debris. Officials plan on reviewing data from the devices.

Jet’s final flight details showed an elevation of that level and a speed of 210 mph before the accident.

Maintenance History

Per FAA records dated that date, a fracture on a component in the tank area demanded fixes.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which said it supplies airframe maintenance for UPS’s aircraft and manages a maintenance center in that city, declined to speak, but said it would work closely when investigators contacted it.

Operations Restart

In the meantime, UPS Worldport activities continued last night with its express or night sort procedure, official Jim Mayer said. All three landing strips at Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport were also back in operation.

The sorting center in this location is the company’s most significant. The center hires in excess of 20,000 people in the region, handles three hundred flights daily and processes over a huge volume of parcels each hour.

Local Response

A memorial was held on the evening of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which supports employees at the Louisville airport, the organization’s largest freight center.

The union chapter, which supports staff, began the memorial with a period of reflection at that time, the approximate moment of the crash two days earlier.

“This event was so unexpected, so unforeseen,” the leader addressed the crowd of 200. “No one had a moment to say goodbye to any of those who we have lost.”
